Home Island

"There are no words now, only sorrow. Mary, me, and the kid stayed a night on this island. We were tired from the storm and were happy to find a cave to stay in. She was outside just for a moment... then it came. I could not stand on my feet because the whole island was shaking from the weight of Oceanhorn. All I could hear was a scream and that horrible war horn. She is gone... She was gone. That monster is after me... and I was hiding inside..."

Home Island is a small island to the west of the Uncharted Seas. It lies clostest to Gillfolk's Drop in the north. Bomb Island is in the east and Hermit's Island is south-east.

Description[]

The island is not as small as it looks, with many hills and cliffs, many meadows, some trees and small beaches. There are two piers, one on the rocky side with the cave and one by the house. The house stands sheltered behind the large central hill and high above the sea level. A small beach area below is the Kid's personal swimming spot.^[1]

History[]

One night, Blackhat, Mary and their child seek shelter in one of the caves of this island. When Mary leaves just for a moment, Oceanhorn appears at the shores and kills (and takes) her, leaving Blackhat to care for his son alone. Despite the experience, father and son remain on the island, They give Mary a grave in her memory and build a house behind the big hill.

Eventually, Blackhat cannot hide from Oceanhorn any longer and decides to face it. He quickly scribbles instructions to his son and then leaves to meet Oceanhorn at the shore. He uses his ancient flute to tame Oceanhorn temporarily and lure it away.

The Kid remains behind alone. He follows his father's instructions and heads for Hermit's Island.

He returns to his Home Island after rediscovering it from Sky Island's telescopes, in order to collect a few treasures left behind.
