The Emblem of Ocean is one of the legendary Emblems of Creation, that embodies the essence and consciousness of the God Trito.
History[]
Background[]
The Emblem of Ocean arrives on Gaia with Ootheca, the Submerian Beacon, during the initial landing of the Beacons. Through the Emblem, the essence of Trito gives birth to and protects the Gillfolk of Submeria from threats.[1][2][3]
Pre-Catastrophe[]
During the Direfolk War, the Gillfolk agree to hand over the Emblem to Grand Regent Archimedes to study. The removal of the Emblem, however, exposes the Gillfolk to threats and they are attacked by Yurmala: a massive demon turtle that feeds on their homes. The Gillfolk manage to imprison Yurmala inside Ootheca at high cost.
Eventually, Archimedes sends a group of knights to return the Emblem of Ocean to Ootheca. Steelscale, a warrior of the Gillfolk, is against the Emblem's return as it requires the release of Yurmala and attempts to stop the them. Despite the conflict, the Knights manage to defeat Yurmala and return the Emblem of Ocean to its rightful place.
Post-Catastrophe[]
The Catastrophe destroys Ootheca and Princess Fin carries the recovered Emblem through Gillfolk's Drop into the Royal Palace.[4] The loss of the old world kills King Angler.[5][6] During the funeral of King Angler, a cloaked figure approaches the event with a gift.[7] When Princess Fin places the gift at her father's feet, it suddenly triggers a curse and freezes the entire palace, as well as Fin and one other Gillman.[8]
For a thousand years the palace and its unfortunate inhabitants are frozen until the Kid arrives at Gillfolk's Drop in search of the Emblem of Ocean. The Kid makes his way into the Frozen Palace where he spots the Emblem of Ocean inside King Angler's mausoleum. there he is attacked by the reanimated, cursed corpse of the dead King Angler but he manages to fight him off. The Kid then reclaims the Emblem of Ocean, freeing Trito from the curse that shackled him.
